Characteristics:
1. Have difficulty orienting to people because they cannot see them.
2. Students may experience difficulties with manipulation of objects.
3. Eyes that do not seem to focus.
4. Restricted movement within the environment.
5. Not understand nonverbal cues and other nuances of social behavior normally learned through imitation.
Accommodations:
1. Provide extra storage and/or working space to accommodate supplies such as Tape player/recorder, Braille and Large print books.
2. Verbalize all writing on the board as well as other information.
3. Minimize coping.
4. Provide list of assignments in advance.
5. Use concrete rather than abstract objects as much as possible.
