Characteristics:
1. Unable to move normally or to exercise proper control over movement.
2. These people can find gross and/or fine movements difficult.
3. Some may have unwanted or uncontrolled movements and others may experience a decreased range and strength of movement.
4. There is a wide range of conditions that may limit mobility and/or hand functions.
5. Those who use wheelchairs, braces, crutches, rolators, canes, prostheses or those who fatigue easily may have difficulty moving around.
Accommodations:
1. Relocation of a classroom or activity to assure physical access.
2. Alternatives to in-class writing assignments for a student who cannot write.
3. A note-taker; a scribe or adaptive computer equipment for exams.
4. Schedule more frequent, shorter breaks, or allow student to get up and move around during lengthy class sessions.
5. Ways to include a student who cannot speak in group discussions or other group formats; student may have a communication device or an aide .
